Totally Gorjuss NEW

The last challenge for 2013 for Totally Gorjuss is here... and its all about new.
I was talking to my friend and decided this could be taken as New Year, New Beginnings, New product, new technique.. I mean really its all about your perception of the challenge isnt it

I am lucky enough to work with a beautiful young girl who found out she was pregnant earlier this year, and after the shock subsided the excitement kicked in.
She had her baby on the 19th Dec, what a great Christmas present that keeps on giving.

Please visit the Totally Gorjuss Challenge blog and play along with the rest of the team this week and stay tuned for the new challenges to come in 2014

Eek, Christmas Card - Quick

http://totallygorjuss.blogspot.com.au/

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas to you all.

Have you got any last minute cards to make for Christmas this year?  If so your in luck as our theme for this weeks Totally Gorjuss Challenge is
Eek! quick Christmas card.

I actually had a ball making this card, which started off as a piece of white card stock and ended up like this.

I realised that it was a little bland when left white on white, I grabbed my copics, air brush and compressor with a few post its for masking and wallah.. a quick cute little Christmas card.  I was impressed that my compressor and air brush got some use, I tend to forget I have those tools!

The sentiment is another from Amy R - Big Christmas Wishes

Anything with Santa

Totally Gorjuss is having another Xmas challenge and we are after your anything with Santa projects. I dug into my SVGcut files and found this lovely guy.

I must remember to dig into cut files more often, I quite like the stamp style card base.

We finally popped our Xmas tree up this weekend and just as we finished with the Christmas ornament vomit (oh sorry..adding decorations) I declared we forgot to put the lights on the tree ...oops.

below is work in progress

near complete xmas ornament vomit..decorating that is..

we had to keep it fairly low on ornaments on the lower edge of the tree as our dearest little kitten is in ornament frenzy.

Now.. back to the challenge. Please pop over to the Totally Gorjuss Challenge blog and link up your creations. We are looking forward to seeing your Santa creations.

Clearing my table....

So who can craft on a messy desk?  I nearly just dragged my arm across the desk to bin the lot but on closer inspection I realised I could actually make something with these bits and pieces on the desk.
So.. here was the result of about an hours work and I now have a semi clean desk (some things are still to be binned I fear).  The irony of these little bit of pieces.. my inlaws have decided we are not to buying gifts at Christmas, and im really only buying for my kids and my sisters boys.  So.. lots of tags and not many gifts!  The bright, very ugly tag with splotches is for my sister who is an artist.. its meant to be tongue in cheek, I hope she gets it
Im going to play in the Simon says stamp challenge today, its anything goes but they are keen to see some Ranger and Tim products used.  I used my distress, time tag die and archival inks, aswell as stains on that ugly tag!

Snowing at Totally Gorjuss

Another week has passed and its time for another Totally Gorjuss Challenge.
This week we are after your projects with snow, initially I was lacking in inspiration but then I started colouring an image and found the perfect background paper in my new Echo Park christmas paper pad and I was off.
I even used my Tim Holtz stamp to create some faux snow..

of course I would like to link up with a few other challenges
Simon Says Stamp are having a Anything Goes challenge but wouldnt mind seeing Ranger/tim products.
Crafty Calender Challenge are all things Christmas in November.

Totally Gorjuss - Childs Christmas thing

http://totallygorjuss.blogspot.com.au/
This week at Totally Gorjuss we were challenged to create a
Childs Christmas Thing

I really wanted to make a 3D project but I seriously lost my mojo.  My original project was going to have paper pieced snowmen or santa's.  Problem being paper piecing and I really have a love hate relationship.

So..Instead I made a 3D box and embellished it with a vintage feel poinsettia, doily  and tag and added a glass ornament that I had filled with gold shimmer glitter.  I am smiling at how different my concept began and how it finished.  There is not a hint of paper piecing to be found.

My box will contain the ornament and a whole array of sweet treats for a lucky child, either from my own family or a family friend.  Sometimes presents are just a little bit more special when they come in special wrapping or boxing, don't you think?

We are happily sponsored by Bugaboo this week, have you seen their delightful digital stamps?
They have a freebies section where you can try a stamp before buying more.  So easy to print out, colour and create.  The freebies can be found here and they are updated regularly.

Please head on over to Totally Gorjuss Challenges and link up your creations, visit the other DT blogs and read more about Bugaboo.  Have fun, I look forward to seeing what you create

before I sign off completely, my eldest daughter had her end of year farwell last week.  here is a snapshot of the evening.  She looked stunning as did everyone else, a credit to their school and to them all as a friend group.

and finally... my new housemate.  I just couldn't resist his beautiful little face (and my husband even gave me permission to get him)  he is a terror when awake and oh so cute when asleep.

A quick card

This week over at Paper Smooches Sparks Challenge they are all about Cool Colours.
I played around with a few ideas and ended up with a clean and simple and quick card, I quite like how it turned out.

I used My Favourite things Pierced circle stax (they are actually my favourite), remnant scraps of colours and a Paper Smooches sentiment.  I used the left over colour circles inside the card and on the back (I had lots left over)

Totally Gorjuss - Three Patterned Papers

http://totallygorjuss.blogspot.com.au/
Totally Gorjuss Challenge theme this week is

3 Patterned papers

I laughed as I made my card, as I met this criteria with last weeks project too.  Did any of you play along with our Remember theme?

I have been wanting to use banners in a card for a few weeks now, as well as wanting to use vellum for a sentiment panel.  So this week both of my ideas were put to work.
I seem to be regularly inspired by Kristina Werner, and I am an avid You Tube follower of hers, unfortunately she tends to make me want to shop online all the time!  Thankfully I had everything I needed this time, except for Vellum which I picked up last weekend at a craft show (phew)

I definitely think I will use the vellum as a sentiment panel again, it does cover quite a bit of the card but it leaves the details showing underneath.  Ive used two sentiments on this card one from Hero Arts and the other is Paper Smooches (Jibber Jabber).  I stamped with my fiskars stamp press (small).  I had the larger version and didn't love it, so I am surprised that the smaller version definitely works how I expected - LOVE IT.

Please head on over to the challenge blog and link up your projects and also leave me a comment so I know you have visited.

Be sure to visit the Card Makin Mama's blog too where our theme this month is Thanks

Have a great day

More stripes

Another card for paper smooches stripes trend watch chalkenge, I can't help myself my mind is full of ideas all about stripes.

I covered strips of white remnant card stock with various washi tapes, adhered and trimmed down, added the beautiful sentiment and butterfly from paper smooches and wallah, a simple card.
I even used my CTMH inkpads, love this colour, believe it was hollyhock?

Paper smooches - stripes challenge.

I had fun with this little card, all the papers were from a 6inch echo park pad called splash, I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that it's okay to cut and use cardstock... For some reason I used to act like it was never to be used,

I made this card after seeing the current challenge over on paper smooches, via their Facebook group.
I used the  Chubby Chums set, you can't help but smile when stamping these guys up.

Pile it on - Animals with Character
Simon Says Stamp - Keep it clean and simple

I hope you enjoyed your visit, till next time

Totally Gorjuss - Remember

http://totallygorjuss.blogspot.com.au/
This week at Totally Gorjuss our theme is Remember.

I took my inspiration from Kristina Werner and then Amy R (who had been inspired by Kristina)
and after several attempts I was finally satisfied with the outcome.
If you ever try this technique let me tell you that you definitely need a colour layer between your base and your card panel, otherwise the effect doesn't pop.
All of my coloured papers are from the scrap box, so this is definitely worth playing with to use up remnants (who else seems to have a never ending supply of remnants!)
Those that know me, know that I tend to be a little forgetful, im the person that thinks about sending a card to a friend a few days after their birthday, so my take on Remember is actually a kick in the pants for me to be punctual.
The sentiment in this card is from Amy R - Birthday Sentiments.
I hope to see you all posting on the challenge blog so we can comment on your projects.
REMEMBER to leave me a comment here too, so I know you have visited.

Totally Gorjuss - Snow and anything goes

Do you all know that I LOVE snow, I mean its just wonderful, especially sharing the joy with your kids as you catch huge snowflakes on your tongue or on snow gloves and look at the detail of flakes.
Totally Gorjuss is all about snow this week too, they have a new challenge starting and its all about snow and anything goes.  What do you think you can create with this theme?  Head on over to the challenge blog and show us your style.
http://totallygorjuss.blogspot.com.au/
I used an image I have had for ages and honestly had forgotten about, this beautiful digital stamp is from Karens Doodles and her name is First Taste of Snow.
I used my Cameo to create the card base and all the other elements including the sentiment on this card, it came together really easily.
We are sponsored by Craft all Day this week.  Links on the challenge blog.
Looking forward to seeing your creations, I was certainly kept busy looking at the spooky challenges last week.  So much talent out there in crafting blog land.

Thankful at Card Makin Mama's

This month at Card Makin Mama's we would like to see your cards that are all about Thankful Tidings
We are looking for cards that feature ***SENTIMENTS*** of Thankfulness or Gratitude. Feel free to include other design elements as well, but the sentiment is required.

I kept my card very simple this time.  I wanted a fairly flat card that could be posted easily.  As it turns out it will probably be hand delivered to the local Rural Fire Brigade with a cash donation in it for their recent efforts in the Blue Mountains fires.  Usually they door knock but I think that may be called off this year as so many people lost their homes and many of the donations are going to families in need.

I used my Papertrey Ink stamp set and my brand new CTMH ink pads that I love.  The colours are rich and vibrant and I don't regret that purchase, even though it pained me when I put the order in, I had crafters guilt.  Im over it now!  The thanks stamp is from Kaszazz and the twine is from May Arts.

Im really getting back into the crafting vibe lately, I even found a little mojo..

Oh if you are getting an error message on my blog, a no data error, I have no clue how to fix it.  I have deleted all the side bar elements and readded them and the problem persists.  If you have any idea what the problem is, please feel free to let me know.  Its certainly annoying.

Now its time for you all to head on over to the CMM blog and get creating with your Thankful projects.  Looking forward to seeing your creations.

Just Because

Just Because I had a friend over tonight who mentioned that I had 12 hours left to enter into the Totally Gorjuss challenge.

I did some inspiration searching on Pinterest and found a sketch that I liked, I played with a few elements and ended up with a totally different version with a circle off the side of the card.

This weeks challenge is String.  I dug out some variegated cotton twine that worked beautifully with the papers from My Minds Eye (Stella Rose Collection).

When stressed "craft"

As I'm sure half the world is aware, those of is in the Blue Mountains NSW are in the middle of a fire emergency and I've felt sick with worry coming on five days. One of my best friends was at risk but thankfully her home was safe, unfortunately so many lost their homes including my daughters boyfriend and his family. Is simply devastating.

So today I tried to,get my mind of tomorrow's weather forecast and I have made a card.

Gourjuss challenges want string used in their challenge, so I dug through the drawer and found a vintage pink twine to use.

Sympathy Card

A simple card made today as a Sympathy Card for a family that I work with.  Its nice to actually create a card and finish it.

Missing in action

It appears that Blogger ate my scheduled posts.. spooky!
I have completely lost track of time and in a mad dash I found this awesome little file on the Silhouette store for a Halloween themed card.  We don't do Halloween at my house, although I have noticed a few neighbours are starting to get into it.  Its definitely more of an American holiday than Australian though.

I cut all the elements out for this card and edges with distress inks. the purple layer was quickly run through the bigshot with a texture fade.  And wallah, quickest card ever and worst DT member award all in one day (as in I forgot all about making a card)

You all get a sneak peak at my new carpet too..

Head on over to the Card Makin Mama's challenge blog for more details.  You have a whole month to play along.

Black, white and one other colour

My card was completely inspired by Danielle Daws, a clean and simp,e card project with a twist.
Card Makin Mamas would like to see Black, White and one colour in your projects, you can visit the challenge blog to see more of the DT projects for inspiration.
Our challenge is running for the whole month, so you have plenty of time to create.  We are using this theme at craft camp this year so I will be interested to see how a room of 36 women interpret this challenge.

Tiddly inks DT call

Have you all heard that Tiddly Inks is looking for some new DT members and they are opening up the call to everyone to apply.  You can read about the DT call here.

This stunning image is Fairy Fae, she was one of my first Tiddly images I ever purchased.   She is available as a digital image in the Tiddly Shop.

I made this card last week for the fairies challenge over at Tiddly inks.  I played a little with her hair colour and tried for a blonde fairy.  I used the print and cut feature on my cameo to trace around the image, I am constantly amazed at how accurate the cuts are.

The next challenge over on the Tiddly Ink Challenge Blog is Summer Treats Yum... click here to jump on over to see the DT projects and to link up your own creations.

And now for some fun free news, there is a Tiddly Ink freebie that has been kindly shared.  Be sure to pop on over and say thank you and be sure to link others to the freebie directing them to the Tiddly Ink Shop.  Freebie over at Tiddly Inks.

July Challenge - Card Makin Mama's DT Post

Hi and welcome to another Card Makin Mama's challenge.  How are you liking the new monthly format.  I quite like having a bit more time to create the perfect project to share.
I hope you like my card for this challenge, I really enjoyed making it and was surprised when I looked at the clock and saw how many hours had passed.  I must of been quite engrossed.
I have used inlinkz at the bottom of the project and linked up many of the things I used, I hope you find this helpful.
My lists will grow as I slowly add things to my inlinkz stock catalogue!
So our challenge this month is to create a monochrome project.  No I don't mean just a touch of another colour.. I mean MONOCHROME.  So pick one colour you can work with and go nuts with shades.  My choice was browns and in particular the E range in Copics.  These were my start point and I worked from there.  Luckily I had the Engravers paper pad on my desk at the same time, so inspiration hit me fairly quickly.
Head on over to Card Makin Mamas and make us smile with your Monochrome creations.
Im looking forward to seeing what people create.  I was going to go for grey tones but I just couldn't nail the colouring.

Colours of Summer

There is a challenge over at CMC that's all about the colours of summer, this is a bit difficult to think about considering we are in one of the wettest and cold winters we have had in a few years in Australia in the lovely Blue Mountains.   So what makes me think summer, pretty colourful drinks, green lawn and blue water, friends and parties.  I think this image and card covers all those bases!

This is a Hambo image, called Silly Birds in Hats, I fell in love with the image as soon as I saw it.

Card Makin Mama's - On the Farm Challenge (Sponsored by Bugaboo)

This challenge is the first up in our new challenge format of Monthly challenges and we are happily sponsored by Bugaboo.
I used the wonderful image named Merrry Christmas to ewe that can be found here

I completely pinched the circular scalloped card idea from Melissa, this lady has so many crafting tricks its going to take me years to learn them.  Thankfully she is happy to share her brilliance.
Now the trick to this card is the fact that the back layer is scored at the top allowing the card back to bend, and also the bottom of the card is straight edged so it doesn't fall over.

Copics used
