Die Cuts at Card Makin Mama's

This week at Card Makin Mama's we are dying to tell you what the challenge is, its simply cutting edge... yeah Ok thats a pretty sad pun, sorry!
We are using Die Cuts this week, I managed to use 6 individual shapes in mine, can you find them all?

My image is from Saturated Canary, a company that is new to me but somewhere I will be visiting again.  We got to choose our images and it was so hard to pick just one to play with.  This is why I will be back choosing more very soon...  Please go and visit the Saturated Canary  site, you will be thrilled with what you find.

So who is already picturing their creation in their minds, what images are you going to use, what die cuts have you got in mind... please link up on the challenge blog so we can all come by and visit you, and check the Card Makin Challenge blog to see what prizes may be up for grabs this week.

Getting Funny with Aud Sentiments

I had a ball with this challenge, I knew what I wanted to do from the moment I saw the available images and the theme!  There is a little bit of a story behind this card... grab a cuppa and settle in!
My lovely friend Deby had her 40th Celebrations way back when she was younger...oh no.. just two years ago... and she was a tad silly in asking me to look after her camera!  I had been drinking fruit tingle cocktails for a few hours before this and thought nothing of taking of photo of my bra... unknown to me was the fact that the next day she proudly displayed her party photos to her mum and dad... and they flick across this photo and with a laugh say "whose on earth are they'.... I had taken this photo and it purely showed up with my skin colouring, bra colour and my top colour... they had no idea it was me, as it was winter and my outer layered top was a totally different one to the one in this photo...  I had to tell her it was me and didnt I pay for it... she then proceeded to make a whole scrapbooking layout with the photos!  Which you can decide to click on or not..HERE. she actually did a really great layout... needless to say I wish i always looked that good!

How is that cuppa going... I did tell you there was a story involved!
Now for this weeks card for Aud Sentiments, this card is for Deby.  She is having surgery in November and I thought this would give her a laugh.. she will get the joke immediately!
We were lucky enough to be sponsored by Bugaboo Digital Stamps for this challenge, please stop by the other DT members and look at their creations too, we look forward to your comments but especially seeing your creations.  The sky is the limit with this challenge, who doesnt like a funny card!

The challenge blog can be found HERE and Bugaboo is HERE

Ok.. thanks for listening I hope you got a giggle from my little rant... that story makes me smile whenever I think of it!

And the recipe we are cooking today

This week at Cooking it up with Katie our recipe is
Red
Ribbons
Rows

I really enjoyed playing with this theme and knew I wanted to do a Xmas card as soon as I saw the recipe.

I bought this image from Digital Delights by LouLou (our lovely sponsor, who gave us other images.. but I really had to use this guy, as I fell in love with him as soon as I saw him... Go and buy him you know you want too.   Its going to be on many of my christmas cards this year... be warned!

I really love this card.. from start to finish I enjoyed making it and instead of adding more and more to it, i decided to leave it as is, once i put the image and the sentiment on.. I purposely did the patterned papers off centre.. just to have a deeper red border on one side.

Looking forward to seeing your creations, and being inspired!  See you over at the Cooking it up Blog

Im also playing with

New Shoes

If you jumped onto this blog for the Card Makin Mama's blog hop, click the picture directly below to jump to the blog hop post.

Those of you that know me personally will get a laugh from my post title....I hardly even wear shoes, its not odd to see me barefoot and i've even been known to go away on holidays and get to our destination minus shoes on my feet or even packed.   So why on earth mention shoes you ask.
Well its because I am absolutely THRILLED to announce that Im a new shoe at If the Shoe Fits Scrap It...  perhaps they will inspire me to put some shoes on, or perhaps I will be in the craft room barefoot, relaxed and colouring!

Im coming in a little late for the current challenge at If the Shoe fits
we want to see how you are inspired by HALLOWEEN and/or FALL.
This is a little hard for me, as its definitely not Fall (Autumn) over here in Australia and we don't really celebrate Halloween.. so what did I come up with.

Well I chose an image that actually reminded me of Easter, which does fall in our Autumn months but i don't really give people easter cards that much.  So I went with Autumn colours, an image that certainly could be considered Halloween inspired (if you were to dress up that is) and ended up with a birthday card.

I really love how this turned out, the dragon is from Stampin Dragon and I coloured her (yes her) with Copics, Im pleased with the finished product.

Please drop by the challenge blog so we can see how you are inspired by Halloween or Fall.

Im also playing with

Cooking it Up with Katie, Buttons, Birds and Borders

Excuse my tardiness in my DT post for Cooking it up, ive been a tad rushed this week with my husband on holidays, and renovating a bathroom.  I got this beautiful image last week from Digi Doodles and coloured it over the weekend then promptly forgot to put my project together... Can we all say Mummy brain.

We are playing with the recipe of Border, Button and Bird this week, don't you love the bird i got to choose from Digi Doodles!  I love owls so it was an easy choice to pick this guy.

I  did a bit of mix and match with the background colouring, I started with copics and decided i didnt like it and it so I then came in with the distress inks and daubers, I mixed some grey over the top to try and make it look like the night sky.. not sure if i pulled that off though!

I used a white pen to doodle a border and also I cut a border on my Cougar to frame the image.

So now its your turn, please pop over to the Cooking it up with Katie challenge blog and play along with us this week.

We will be along to visit your creations through the week, have fun!

Also dont forget to visit our sponsor at Digi Doodles!

Card Makin Mama's Halloween

So I was given a little bit of history on the beginnings of Halloween by the Card Makin Mamas after I revealed I really had no clue... funny how people on one side of the world often have no idea about the traditions of the other side.
Anyway, this week we are sponsored by Bugaboo and we each got to choose a design to play with for the Halloween Challenge.
My Image is quite the little cutie.  I had a bit of trouble cutting the spider webs as the blade broke on my cutter after the second web... so this card ended up taking me a lot loner to create that originally planned.

Fab and Funky - Fall colours challenge
Papertake Weekly - three different shapes (webs, base and swirls)

Aud Sentiments - Lily of the Valley

This week we are sponsored by Lily of the Valley and our job was to create a winter card.  I must admit I struggled with this a little, maybe as my winter has just passed and I am loving spring and looking forward to Summer.   I did use winter green designer paper to try and winter up my card!  I look forward to seeing you all over on the Aud Sentiments Challenge blog to show me how to create the perfect winter card!
sorry for the blury image, i cant retake the photo as the card has already left the building!

Curling Coloured Cirlces

This week at Cooking it up with Katie Challenge blog we are asking you to use the following recipe
Curls, Colour and Circles... not as easy as it sounds I found out!
We are sponsored by Stampin with the Dragon and I chose this cute happy birthday sentiment/image to work with.
I rarely make boys cards, so I took the opportunity to grab some of my Kaiser boys type paper and I came up with the following card.  I tried to link up the colours from the Kaiser paper to the copics I used.  I think I managed to pull that off.

My Favourite Colours

Its hard for me to say what my favourite colour is, my husband always tells me I wear brown to often.. but I am an earth toned lover and lets face it, brown is definitely an earth tone.  Since a young age however I have loved Aqua or Teal, something about that colour really makes me happy.  I wore Teal to my year 12 formal and it was the colour of my bridemaid dress at my wedding.  And Teal goes perfectly with pink.  If we are talking clothing.. i rarely wear pink but I certainly do like to colour with it!

Here is my work in progress of my entry to TeddyBo, Your favourite colour.  I am taking my time with both this blog post and also the project itself.. something about these images really make me want to slow down and enjoy the process.

I am using my Express it cardstock for this image, I had been storing it away as its quite expensive, but now that the copic 2 course has started on  Get It Scrapped, I was reminded that it really is great card stock for copics... Im not sure if this image shows you how vibrant the colours are on the express it card stock, but sitting in front of me, the colours are popping off the page.

And these are the colours I have used.   I was putting them aside as I worked and was very
surprised to see how many ended up being used.

Now for the next part of my little project.... what layout will make this image be the focus....
lucky I have the whole day to play, my kids have just woken up and its past midday... aren't school holidays just grand!

and here is my finished card, im struggling lately trying to figure out if i should put more on a card.. or just keep it simple.  I did cut some very find swirls to pop under the flowers and I coloured the flowers with the pinks and teals that I used in colouring the image.   I used my Blackcat Cougar to cut the swirls and im so impressed.  They are 1.5mm wide which in my book is very finely cut..

Im pleased with the final outcome of this card, unfortuantly I know a few people that are going to need get well cards, so im storing up a few, its nice to know that this may cheer someone up, even if just a little bit xoxo

Some other challenges that I want to play in

Surely Not the "F" word...

Katie wanted us to use the F word... anything that starts with F... think felt, fabric, friends, farms...
I thought....Faux and Fun folds... what is your F going to be.

Our challenge this week is to be Fun, Fa\bulous and any other F.  The DT were happily sponsored by Pink Gem and I chose this awesome image to play with, got to love it when the DT gets to pick their images..

I have noticed a few other blogs are playing with Fancy Folds this week so I wanted to use that theme in this card for my extra F... the Faux stitching was just cause I like it...  Pile it on and Card Makin Mama's are both playing with fancy folds, so if you decide to do one, dont forget to link it up there aswell.   But most importantly head on over to Cooking it Up with Katie and link up your projects, please visit the DT blogs and give my fellow buddies some love, they love to hear from you and see your comments, its what makes our job on the DT fun!

Teddybo

For a while now I have wanted to look at the Teddybo images, but when the desire took me i was on my ipad and I couldnt access the site.. for some reason the Ipad now lets me see.. order and ...fall in love with these images (read here... i went a tad nuts ordering some... and they are so so beautiful...be warned your going to be hit with teddybo images ALOT)

Anyway this weeks challenge at the Teddybo challenge blog is "things with wings" so here is my entry into that challenge.  Check below for other challenges that met the criteria of this card too.
Loving copics and using some new techniques, I tried airbrushing and masking on this one.. its harder than what it looks getting the masking material just about perfect... let along trying to figure out how to print on the stuff (it doesnt dry.... which leads to black messy fingers)..

Looking forward to your reactions on this one, I quite love it but I think its the image I love more than the actual card.  This is going into the stash for some lovely little lady's birthday.

Fussy and Fancy - try a new technique (the airbrush and masking)

and lucky last

Bows and Berries wants glitter  (you may be to look closely for that, its on her wings, and flowers and the loops of the border punch)
